options & pricing

Support looks different for everyone, which is why I offer a flat monthly rate based on your total time commitment. You choose how to use your hours each month: shorter check-ins, longer sessions, or a mix. The process adapts to your needs and preferences, so you get the kind of short-term support that feels most useful right now.

2 Hour/Month

$275

Up to 2 hours each month, divided however you’d like (30, 60, or 90 minutes). Between sessions, I may also gather resources or research options that match your goals at no extra charge.

Note: An initial 60 or 90 minute session is required to begin our work together.

4 Hour/Month

$500

Up to 4 hours each month, split however works best for you. Includes the same added value of resource gathering and personalized recommendations outside of our meetings.

Hours can be split however you like, for example:

Two 30-minute check-ins + one 90-minute deep dive

Four 60-minute sessions

One 90-minute session + one 60-minute + a 30-minute phone consult

Note: Monthly hours must be used within that month to keep things simple.

Introductory Call (15-20 minutes)

No Cost

A starter conversation to learn more about what you’re looking for and to see if this service is a good fit for your needs. No cost, no pressure.

Everyone’s process looks different. A monthly structure allows space to adjust as you go; some weeks you might want a longer conversation, other times just a short check-in. It also gives you consistent access to support without having to schedule or budget session by session.

The monthly plans are meant to be short-term and focused. Most people find that about 8 hours (or a handful of visits) gives them the clarity, direction, and the confidence they need to take their next steps. This isn't treatment or ongoing therapy; it’s a guided, flexible way to begin your process with a solid foundation.

frequently asked questions

Is this therapy?

Not exactly. Think of it as a helpful starting point to make your longer term therapy better. Our work together is focused on short-term needs assessment, orientation to the therapy process, and referral to meaningful resources. I help you clarify your needs and values as they relate to therapy, and collaborate with you to create an actionable follow up plan. Though I am a therapist, I don't provide ongoing therapy and treatment with the aim of addressing your primary concerns. Our time together is generally limited to 8 hours or "sessions" total.

Do you take insurance?

I don't bill insurance. Many people find the direct investment in these first steps is worth it because it helps them save time, money, and stress in the long run by getting clearer about what kind of care will actually fit.

What if I’m in crisis or need immediate help?

This service is best for people who are generally stable but unsure where to start. If you’re in crisis or experiencing very intense symptoms, you may need a higher level of care right away. If that’s the case, I’ll provide you with emergency and crisis resources so you can get connected to the support you need.

What if I want to continue my work with you?

This service is designed to be brief for two reasons: (1) to keep our goals (needs assessment and referral) distinct from treatment and (2) to keep it accessible. The goal is to help you start off in the right direction so that when you do connect with a long-term therapist, the process feels clearer and more meaningful. I generally try to help clients with this goal within 2-8 visits, but each situation is different and we can establish the boundaries of our work early on. It's not for everyone and if you tend to feel anxious in your relationships it may be best to find someone you can establish a long-term connection with from the start.

How do I know if this is right for me?

If you feel overwhelmed by the process of starting therapy, unsure what kind you need, where to look, or how to get started; this is designed for you.

While The Unshrink Project can be a helpful starting place for many, it isn’t the right fit for everyone. I don’t provide ongoing therapy, treatment, or crisis-level care.

This means I’m not the right resource if you are:

  • In immediate crisis or experiencing thoughts of harming yourself or others.

  • Needing urgent or emergency-level support.

  • Looking for immediate long-term psychotherapy or a specific clinical treatment.

  • Seeking medication management or psychiatric evaluation.

If you are in crisis or experiencing suicidal thoughts, you deserve specialized and immediate care. I encourage you to reach out to:

  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (U.S.) – dial or text 988 for 24/7 support

  • Your local emergency services if you feel unsafe

  • Crisis lines and urgent care services in your area

You are not alone, and reaching out for immediate help is a strong and important step.

Why would I take this extra step?

Clients who get the most from The Unshrink Project are generally committed to following through with change even if they're unclear about the who or the what, and want their efforts to mean something. Therapy is truly an investment, involving multiple parts of who you are and the resources you carry. It makes so much sense to choose that investment with more clarity and confidence.

Does assessment include diagnosis?

I do not provide formal diagnosis as part of my assessment process. If this is important to you, it can be a part of our referral plan as we identify the types of resources that would be able to offer you diagnosis and/or other specific treatment-related goals you might have.

no surprises act

On January 1, 2022, a ruling went into effect called the “No Surprises Act” which requires health practitioners to provide a “Good Faith Estimate” to clients who are seeking out-of-network care. When an uninsured (or self-pay) client schedules a service, the health care provider or health care facility must provide a Good Faith Estimate that includes (1) the services to be provided, (2) the diagnostic codes associated with the expected services, and (3) the expected charges to the client prior to the service taking place.

While I do not provide ongoing mental health treatment or diagnosis in this practice, as an out-of-network mental health practitioner I will provide a Good Faith Estimate for you to review and sign after our initial session. The Good Faith Estimate is only an estimate and is not meant to be a contract that requires you to meet with me for any length of time. As we work together we can adjust the estimate as needed.
